A lawyer representing a senior family from the University of Connecticut was wanted in two murders on Monday, saying that the suspect had a history of mental illness and urged him to surrender.

“If you listen, your whole family loves you,” lawyer Michael Dolan said Monday to 23-year-old suspect Peter Manfredonia, who Connecticut Post reports.

“Nobody wants any harm coming to you. It’s time to let the healing process begin. It’s time to surrender,” Dolan said outside Hamden’s law office, the report said.

Manfredonia is considered armed and dangerous and was last seen in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Dolan said that over the past few years Manfredonia had “struggled with mental health problems.”

“He is seeking the help of a therapist and he has the support of his parents and those he loves to help him through his struggle,” he said.

Manfredonia, a native of Newtown, was accused of killing Ted DeMers, 62, and seriously injured another old man Friday morning in Willington, Connecticut.

He was also a suspect in the murder of his friend, 23-year-old Nicholas Eisele, who was found dead in his home in Derby, Ct., The house on Sunday morning, police said.
