Tesla shares are in negative territory (-4.72% to $ 684.26) on the New York Stock Exchange this Monday after the US auto safety regulator launched a new investigation of the company’s autopilot system following a string of crashes in recent months.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said it will tentatively evaluate 765,000 Tesla Models Y, X, S and 3 from 2014 to 2021, according to documents released on the regulator’s website and published in the U.S. press.

Since January 2018, NHTSA has identified eleven accidents in which Tesla models hit one or more vehicles. “Most of the accidents occurred after dark, and the locations identified included control measures such as rapid response vehicle lights, flares, flashing arrows and traffic cones,” NHTSA said.

The organization states that all vehicles involved in the crashes “used an autopilot system or Cruise control»With traffic recognition on the way.

According to the report, NHTSA has deployed 31 crash investigation teams since June 2016, involving partially automated driver assistance systems.
