Tencent buys Forza Horizon 2 studio for over € 1 billion

We’ve talked a lot about various studio purchases over the past few weeks. Game console, and even from Xbox… But in fact, the Chinese giant Tencent, not far behind, and the number one revenue studio in the world of video games, just announced a purchase Sumo Group

In a £ 919 million, or € 1.07 million deal, the purchase represents a 43% increase in shareholder value for Sumo shareholders, but that hasn’t left the Chinese giant on board.

Thus, the deal allows Tencent to get its hands on the 14 studios run by the Sumo Group. And we’re talking about very popular studios that have developed some very popular games for the general public like Sonic and Sega All Star Racing, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, or even Forza Horizon 2 for the Xbox 360.

As such, these studios will further cement the giant status of the Chinese group, which already has other big studios like Riot Games (League of Legends) and even Supercell (Clash Royale).
