TAP’s HR Director posted a video describing his experience of hiring employees for an airline in Spain. Pedro Ramos appears at the Plaza Mayor in central Madrid to describe his experience in hiring TAP staff, according to a video that JE had access to.

“We are in Madrid with my colleague and friend João Falcato. We have already selected people this afternoon, ”begins with the person in charge accompanying João Falcata, João Falcata, who, according to his LinkedIn profile, is Director of People and Optimization at TAP Air Portugal.

“And what is it like to choose people in the context of this pandemic?” Asks Pedro Ramos.

“We carry out assessments, [os entrevistados] they are much more open, they are much more looking for opportunities. We keep finding great people who think it’s over with. [pandemia]”, – João Falcatu answers.

“People who are out of stock and available in the market as a result of the pandemic. We hope to bring it to TAP. We can hire. We will select the best, ”adds João Falcato.

Jornal Económico has already asked TAP and the Ministry of Infrastructure about this video and hiring in Spain at a time when the airline was downsizing its staff in Portugal.

The left bloc has already announced that today it will interrogate the government about this situation: “You cannot put up with collective dismissal, and then declare recruitment with this shamelessness,” bloc MP Isabel Pires wrote on social networks.

On May 31, TAP announced that it has cut from 2,000 to 206 employees who have yet to leave the company. According to an internal letter cited by Agencia Luza, the withdrawals took place after the implementation of emergency agreements and compliance with voluntary measures.

The next round of voluntary layoffs will remain with these 206 workers. If they disagree, the airline moves to a collective booking process in July.

TAP will move to collective layoffs in July unless 200 workers accept voluntary layoffs.
