Minister Pedro Nuno Santos has already spoken about this several times, and this Wednesday the management of the company confirmed this. TAP will not return the €3.2 billion state aid provided to the company under a restructuring plan approved by Brussels in 2021.

When asked by Dinheiro Vivo about when and how the amount transferred by the state will be returned, the company’s chief financial officer clarified that this scenario is not included in the model of the restructuring plan signed between TAP and the European Commission.

“Our restructuring plan involves an injection of capital, not debt,” Goncalo Pires said this morning at a press conference on TAP’s quarterly results.

The official also confirmed that the final state aid will arrive by December in the form of a check for 990 million euros, as envisaged in the plan and defined in the state budget for 2022.

“TAP has been paying the Portuguese since the first day of its rescue. Passengers, exports, purchases, support for tourism in the country,” Pedro Nuno Santos answered during the debate on the privatization of the company.
