Syrian air defense systems deflected several nearby targets in Homs province on Wednesday, according to social media posts (13).

Twitter posts indicate that systems Syria air defense fired at unknown targets in the skies over Palmyra, an ancient city in the province of Homs, about 210 kilometers east of Damascus.

Rockets too were seen in the Al-Tanf area, where the US base is located, near the border crossing point of Jordan, Iraq and Syria. There are even reports that a Syrian radar station near the city of Al-Bukamal, near the Iraqi border, also saw rockets over al-Tanf.

While some initial reports suggest that the attack may have been carried out by the Israelis, al-Tanf is well out of the reach of Israel Air Force fighters, which typically hit Syrian targets in the west with their own missiles over Lebanon or on the Mediterranean coast.

In recent weeks, the US has launched several airstrikes against Syria, and US President Joe Biden is reformulating his war on terror to target al Qaeda, a terrorist organization banned in Russia and some other countries. However, American attacks were concentrated especially in Idlib, where, with Turkish support, extremists from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (a banned terrorist organization in Russia and some other countries), associated with al-Qaeda, dominate.
