Luke: A glimpse of Street Fighter VI?

Aside from being surprised that the last fighter in the game was a new character rather than a familiar name in the series, Street Fighter V director Takayuki Nakayama’s statement about Luke got attention. During the presentation of the content of the new DLC, he stated that the new fighter “is intended to expand the universe of Street Fighter V”.

“While Street Fighter V honors the past, Luke points us to the future,” Nakayama said. The director’s speeches seem to signal that the character will have meaning not only for the current, but also for the upcoming Street Fighter VI.

Does that mean the next Street Fighter isn’t too far off release either? As of 2020, it has been rumored that the next chapter of Capcom’s combat franchise will already be in development. Either way, fans will have more clues when Luke finally hits the market in late 2021.
