In an interview with CNN, political scientist and professor Insper Carlos Melo said that the ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) showed that they are united by attending the event together this Friday (6). The members of the court present were Luis Roberto Barroso, Alexandre de Moraes and Gilmar Mendes.

“We know that several ministers had already gotten into skirmishes during the court hearings, but there was a unit there, and they all seemed to be playing the same instrument,” said Melo, who brokered the conversation.

According to the political scientist, all institutions, especially STF, are responsible for containing political instability in the country. The court was attacked by President Jair Bolsonaro (not the party), which prompted a number of reactions.

“It’s not that other institutions like the National Congress or the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) have been rejected. [pelos ministros]but they put Brazil’s supreme court guaranteeing the rigidity of democracy. ”

Melo also strengthened the role of the STF as the main agent for resolving the political situation in the country. “

There is an executive and a legislative branch, but when a deadlock arises, it is the Supreme Court that can help develop this process, ”he explained.
