Spotify Says Apple One Bundle Will Do “Irreparable Damage to the Developer Community”

Apple today announced Apple One, a series of new subscription packages that provide access to various Apple services for an aggregate monthly price.

In response, Spotify sent out statements (via Peter Kafka) to the press condemning Apple’s anti-competitive behavior and calling on “antitrust authorities” to stop Apple before it can do “irreparable harm” to developers.

Once again, Apple uses its dominance and bad faith methods to disadvantage competitors and deny consumers a preference for its own services. We urge antitrust authorities to take urgent action to curb Apple’s anticompetitive behavior that, if left unchecked, will irreparably harm the developer community and jeopardize our collective freedom to listen, learn, create, and communicate.

There are three separate Apple One plans that start at $ 14.95 per month. The standard plan includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple arcadeand 50 GB iCloud storage. Separately, these services will cost $ 21, so customers save $ 6 per month.

The Apple One Family Plan includes Apple Music, Apple TV +, Apple Arcade and 200GB of iCloud storage for $ 19.95 a month, and all services can be shared among up to six family members. Separately, these services will cost $ 27.96.

Premier Apple One plan priced at $ 29.95 / month includes Apple Music, Apple TV +, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness +, and 2 TB of iCloud storage for up to six family members. The Premier plan offers the greatest savings as these services will cost $ 54.94 individually.

Spotify has long been unhappy with “Apple Music” because it comes installed by default on the iPhone and does not require additional fees for customers who purchase a subscription on an Apple device. Spotify, meanwhile, has to pay Apple a 30 percent discount to provide access to purchasing a premium subscription on an Apple device.
