In the derby leading up to the fourth round of the second leg of the women’s national championship, Sporting took a 3-2 win at home against Benfica.
The Leo formation went full throttle and won the first set 25-13. The Eagles’ reaction was immediate, winning the next two partial matches 28-26 and 25-19. The fourth set was balanced again: Sporting brought the match to Black with a 27-25 lead. Then, in the last half, Alvalade’s team was stronger and closed the match with a 15-12 win.
At the first stage of the competition, the derby was also decided only after five sets, but in November Benfica was the winner.
Also this Sunday two more competition matches were played. Vilakondense took over and beat Leixoins 3: 1, while AJM / FC Porto defeated Porto Vólei 3: 0.
In terms of classification, AXM / Porto remains the leader with nine points in four games, followed by Sporting CP with seven points (minus one game). Benfica is in third place with six points.
