Booster doses – all mRNA vaccines – were taken 5 to 10 months after the second dose and approximately one to two months before being infected with a variant Omicron in the article describes a team coordinated by Wolfgang Preiser, a researcher at the South African National Health Laboratory Service. published by in the scientific journal SSRN – devoted to the rapid spread of academic research.

All people had high levels of antibodies against protein Thorn (which gives the virus a crowned appearance), as would be expected after booster vaccination. Viral load has also been measured, but there is still no data on unvaccinated people or other vaccination regimens to make comparisons.

Wolfgang Priiser’s team continues to advocate for a booster dose to prevent serious illness, but data, still preliminary, indicate that it could be not enough to prevent infection and symptoms… Thus, it reinforces the need for adherence to non-drug measures (mask, distance, hand hygiene, etc.).
