Chinese biopharmaceutical Sinovac, the developer of the Coronavac vaccine, has called on Brazilian diplomats to change their government’s stance two weeks after President Jair Bolsonaro attacked China. The accusation came during a meeting in Beijing, which was also attended by Sinovac President Weidong Yan, on May 19. The executive stressed the importance of changing the political behavior of the government to send materials to the Bhutantan Institute for the production of a vaccine. The information is contained in a document sent to Itamarati to CPI Covid, published by the newspaper. Or a balloon and confirmed state

In a letter from the Brazilian Embassy in Beijing to the Ministry of Health, it is reported that at a meeting with the Brazilian laboratory, Weidong Yang said that the change in the position of the Bolsonaro government could lead to “more fluid” relations between the countries. Bolsonaro has repeatedly called covid-19 “the Chinese virus”. He also suggested that the coronavirus was manufactured in a laboratory after the “chemical war”.

The Butantane Institute is increasingly suffering from delays in the supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients (IFA) from China to Brazil. In April, the bottling of the vaccine was stopped due to a delay in the shipment of raw materials.

According to the newspaper Or a balloonSinovac President “highlighted the importance of political support for the implementation of exports and even the possibility of providing incentives to some countries.”

Covid CPI Senators interrogated former Foreign Minister Ernesto Araujo during his May 18 testimony about the attacks on China.

At the time, Araujo denied that he had offended Chinese diplomats and the country’s culture in general. “I have never offended the ambassador of China,” the former chancellor said. However, last year, Araujo would even have asked for an exchange of China’s ambassador to Brazil, Yan Wangming, following clashes over pandemic allegations.
