Rodrigo Andrade, a Brazilian who has lived in Cairo, the capital of Egypt for three years, has known the seller since 2019. The meeting with the papyrus seller took place on the recommendation of friends. The woman was interested in learning the language in order to meet tourists at the institution.

“According to her, the store where she works receives many Brazilian tourists. Therefore, she and other Hispanic girls were interested in learning Portuguese due to the proximity of the languages in order to better serve Brazilians, ”she said.

According to Rodrigo, the classes lasted about four months. Both the salesperson and her colleagues completed the basic level of the Portuguese language course.

“She is a sweet girl, very sociable, and today, in addition to being a former student, she became my friend because she is a great person,” said the Brazilian.

The same interpretation was presented by the Egyptian Ministry of Attorney’s Office in a note published on June 1.

“In the video, it was clear that the girl was being ridiculed and seemed to be smiling absently, unaware of the verbal abuse,” the entity said.

“I’ve seen them serve Brazilians and they are super professionals. Mostly she. Brazilians are also always very curious but very respectful. She certainly did not think that this could happen, “commented Rodrigo.

A Brazilian instructor claims the salesperson had a better command of Spanish. Therefore, it was easy for the girl to learn Portuguese.

On Wednesday (2), the papyrus shop owner’s lawyer said G1 that the case affected the reputation of the institution.

“People thought the store didn’t support this case. The store owner fully supports him, ”said Gamal Abuzeid.

Abuzaid claims that the papyrus store suffered moral and material damage from the consequences of Sorrentino’s video. He did not disclose the amount of losses incurred since then. The shop owner’s lawyer said he did not legally represent the seller.
