Sergio Conceição has been suspended for one game after being ejected against Mafra in the fourth round of the Portuguese Cup, so Saturday’s derby against Boavista at Bessa Stadium will be skipped.

The Disciplinary Board has punished the Porto coach with a suspension that will be applied this Saturday when he travels to the Bessa stadium for the game of the 13th round of the League.

In addition, Conceição was fined 4,080 euros.

According to referee Hélder Maleiro’s report, the Dragons’ coach “left his technical area to furiously hit the ball as it left the touchline towards the billboards.”

“This act was a clear protest to the judge for the decision,” can be read so far.

The referee also reports that two minutes after being sent off, he realized “the coach was still on the bench claiming he would not leave the bench”.

“Then I approached this guy to leave the bench because the game had to start again, he insisted that he did nothing to get him sent off, so he would not leave the bench. He left only when I warned the delegate of his club that if he did not leave, he would declare the game over. The whole episode took another two minutes and thirty seconds.”

Mallheiro also wrote that “Four minutes and thirty seconds elapsed between the red card being shown and the coach leaving the bench, the game stopped waiting for the coach to leave the bench and the game could be restarted.”

It should be noted that Porto was also fined 2,244 euros for the fact that none of the players and coaches made any statements in a flash interview and did not appear at a press conference.
