Another lunar eclipse occurred this morning, resulting in the formation of a red moon and the formation of a supermoon, a phenomenon also known as the “moonflower”. It only partially obscures the Sun. This phenomenon has been observed in America, Europe and other regions of the globe. .

The phenomenon reached its peak around 4:11 am, when the Moon was completely in the cone of the Earth’s shadow. The total eclipse ended at 4:54 am. The moon came out of the shadow at 5:55, but the penumbra remained for another hour.

“Although completely in shadow, the Moon is still visible, but has a reddish and brownish color. In fact, during a lunar eclipse, the sun’s rays fall on the moon after crossing the Earth’s atmosphere, where they scatter and lose a large amount of blue and green light, ”the Lisbon Astronomical Observatory explained. During an eclipse, the moon was illuminated not with white, but with a reddish light. The moment of the Full Moon phase lasted only two minutes.

At 7:52 AM, the Moon completely emerged from the penumbra, returning to its usual hue, although it was already below the horizon.

According to the observatory, the next total lunar eclipse will occur on November 8, 2022.
