Scenes from Portuguese lessons - 09/10/2021 - News

Professor

A return to face-to-face classes at all levels of education in Rio Grande do Norte was announced this week. It’s time for this to happen. We now face the immense challenge of restoring content and mobilizing students. I thought about what the first Portuguese lessons in high school would be like after this obligatory break caused by the coronavirus. I imagined something like the following.

Greeting the students, the teacher dared to ask if anyone liked the Portuguese language. Most said no, which is what the owner expected. So, he decided to resume work after not going to school with the students for so long, with the practice of spelling, as the popular saying goes.

– And what, professor? “We will” do the dictation?

“Let’s go,” the teacher replied.

After the brawl and discontent of the class, a joker in the back of the room asked: – “Should I copy?”

Another joked: “It’s been 10 years since I dictated.

A girl with a concentrated face said, “The teacher will not ‘come’ here to dictate on the first day of class. He has to be playful.

Suddenly, an educated student, changing the subject, said: – I would like to “do an internship …”.

Before he finished, the teacher interrupted him: “Why don’t you ask a question, question, note, or observation?

Student: – Doesn’t it matter? Well, I wanted to give you a hint of the movie “I watched” “two weeks ago.” It is based on “hard facts”.

A colleague mockingly replied: – If this is a fact, then it can only be true.

The group caught fire, and the girl defended the first, complaining about the second: – So, “living together” with you is very difficult. Stop correcting us. You never acknowledge people / efforts /. Nobody will “repeat” here from year to year.

The mocker intervened again: – / Efforts / no. / Effort, ”he said, pronouncing the metaphonic plural correctly.

Another student decided to take part in the defense of a colleague: – Don’t you think that we already have “enough” problems to “sort out” the “small details”?

Someone shouted from behind: – Who’s all right, teacher?

Some words in the plural change the timbre of the stressed vowel from / ô / to / ó /, as well as “egg”, “eggs,” said the master.

Here is a girl complaining: – I’m already “half” tired of this mess. Well, the teacher “could have kicked him out.”

“He makes fools of us,” said the student in the second row. And he continued in a threatening tone: – Do not worry, “let’s meet” during the break and I will figure it out. Do you think you can say what you want just because you are underage?

The teacher quickly interrupted the conversation and said: – Shall we start? Please get ready for the exercise, who bowed his head.

A colleague, who was next to the boy with his head down, categorically declared: “In my personal opinion,” he does not “wake up” like that. You have to pinch “the same”.

The student, who had not yet spoken, decided to ask: “Professor, why don’t you” put this statement aside “?

This was the limit. When the master was getting ready to spell the first word, the student sitting at the first desk asked: – Is this “deliver?”

Educator: – No.

Another student insisted: – Is it worth the mark?

Meanwhile, the shrill and shrill sound of the siren warned that the lesson was over.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
