Russian ambush or retreat? Doubts of the last hours about what is happening in Kherson – Observer

There is no flag. The building, which houses the administrative center of Kherson, has lost this morning the symbol of the Russian occupation, which has been in the city since March. In a region where one of the “heaviest battles” since the start of the invasion is taking place, the absence of the red, blue and white fabric could lead one to believe that Ukraine has managed to retake the territory, at a moment that could be considered remarkable for the course of the war. However, in the midst of an armed conflict, it becomes difficult to establish the truth, especially when two opposite versions arise.

The pro-Kremlin leader acknowledged that a Russian troop withdrawal from the city in the coming days is “highly likely” and there are images on social media that it could even happen. But from the Ukrainian side this statement was met with skepticism, fearing that this might represent a likely trap for the Russians to gain an advantage in a possible urban battle. In the war on information, and after what the Ukrainians have done in the north, no one is now at risk for those who can tell the truth.
