“Since the beginning of October, the number of attacks by Ukrainian armed groups on the border territories of Russia has significantly increased,” the FSB, which is also responsible for border control, said in a statement.

According to Russian intelligence agencies, these attacks came mainly from the Belgorod region, which borders Kharkov, Ukraine, where Kyiv forces have reclaimed thousands of square kilometers of territory since early September, as well as in the Bryansk and Kursk regions.

“Over the past week, more than 100 explosions were recorded in 32 settlements using multiple rocket launchers, artillery, mortars and drones,” the FSB said.

According to him, as a result of these Ukrainian explosions, which also destroyed two power plants, eleven residential buildings and two administrative buildings, “one resident was killed and five people were injured, including a child.”

According to the same source, eight border checkpoints were damaged.

Governor of the Kursk region Roman Starovoit today accused Ukrainian forces of bombing the St. Nicholas Monastery on the border of the two countries.

“There were no injuries. One of the shells hit the building, the fire was quickly extinguished, ”the governor said on the Telegram social network, where he posted photos of the damaged roof and wall.

In July, the Russian army accused Kyiv of firing three rockets at the city of Belgorod, the capital of the region of the same name.

In April, Ukrainian helicopters attacked a fuel depot about 40 kilometers from the border, according to Russian authorities.
