Ruben Mikael shared a long and heartfelt farewell message, announcing his retirement at age 34 on the eve of his last game for Nacional, which will host Rio Avenue this Wednesday in their 34th and final round of Included.

“I have just over 24 hours left before the end of my career … I cannot express what is happening in my heart. As I write, tears flow, but I know that one day this must happen. I want to thank everyone, without exception, for putting up with me all these years, ”wrote the former national team player who started his career at União da Madeira.

The veteran midfielder then listed the clubs he represented throughout his career, highlighting Porto and Braga and mentioning the national team. “Debuting for your country and scoring two goals is unique. It is every player’s dream to be part of a group that participated in the European Championship (Euro 2012) and lost only in the semifinals on penalties, ”he said.

Ruben Mikael left Nacional at the end of the post, recalling the first goal scored by Pacos de Ferreira, as well as two “memorable” games against the Russians for Zenit from St. Petersburg. “I came back and cried a lot when we knew we were going up. Unfortunately we are falling again, but I ask all nationalists not to give up at the club. We will be back stronger next season, ”he wrote.
