The regional government has also decided to “cut” the emergency petroleum product tax (NNP) rebate, which was originally intended to curb rising road fuel prices.

Since the start of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the price of a barrel of crude oil has recently been on a more stable trajectory, so the Madeira leadership will “replace” ISP with unleaded gasoline 95. As for diesel fuel, the government led by Miguel Albuquerque is not moving.

Indeed, despite the change in ISP, the price of gasoline will rise by only 0.8 cents per liter next week compared to the average price the previous week. In the case of diesel, the provincial government again retained the ISP rate, with a change in the household selling price increase of 1.4 cents per litre.

The commitment made by the regional government regarding the monitoring of fuel prices and the crude oil market was that measures would be taken within budgetary capacity to ensure fiscal neutrality of the final sale price to the public. This means that the government has committed to offset the impact of higher commodity prices by lowering the ISP. This is something that has been guaranteed for several months, representing an estimated budgetary impact of more than 19 million euros in lost revenue until the end of the year.
Regional government

“Given the stabilization in the price of a barrel of oil, confirmed in recent weeks, and since fiscal neutrality works both ways, ISP rates have been adjusted in a week during which this adjustment does not significantly affect the final price payable. .”, can be read in response to a request from DIÁRIO.
