George Floyd’s murder has sparked protests across the United States, but Las Vegas Raiders recipient Zay Jones has a heartwarming story to share on Twitter during these difficult times.

“(I) was just at a local household supply store with my cousin getting furniture for my place when an elderly white woman came to me at the check-out counter,” Jones tweeted on Saturday. “(He) looked at me with tears in his eyes … & then said,” I’m from Minneapolis & I just want you to know “you’re important to me.”

Jones said he was hesitant at first to hug him because he wore a mask to stay safe during the coronavirus pandemic, but then asked if he wanted a hug.

“(I) asked if he wanted a hug and he folded it into my hand,” he tweeted. “He cried when he said how important it is to spread love. (I) didn’t get his name but I’m grateful for the meeting. “

The 25-year-old Jones, who is entering his fourth NFL season, added that “beautiful hearts still exist,” inviting people to “be light” and “love others.”

Floyd, 46, died Monday after police officer Derek Chauvin, 44, pressed his knee to Floyd’s neck after Floyd allegedly spent fake $ 20 bills. Chauvin had been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree murder.

Odell Beckham Jr. and other athletes have also spoken passionately about Floyd’s death.
