affiliation Sergio Moro Poder and the launch of his presidential candidacy rocked the former judge’s social media and cemented him as the third most popular presidential candidate on the Internet. A survey by the consulting firm BITES shows that the past month has been a watershed, especially on Instagram.

Moreau gained over 53,000 followers and distanced himself from his main opponents in the so-called political center: Chiro Gomes (PDT) e Joao Doria (PSDB). In the past 30 days, Moro’s name has been quoted 2.41 million times, up 107% from the previous month. Poll leaders, former president Luis Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) and President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) forward.

Daily analysis of the former judge’s networks shows that official recognition of his political-electoral intentions was almost immediate on Instagram, which is considered the most effective means of reaching less politicized voters. “The number of Moro’s followers has decreased since April last year, when he left the Bolsonaro government. He arrived in the valley between October 20 and November 1 this year, when he had 2.505 million subscribers. Since then, he has only grown, and now he is accompanied by 2.558 million, ”says André Ehler, Deputy Director of BITES.

However, the digital media expert warns that this gain is not always positive, meaning that the fact that people talk more about Moro does not mean that they speak well of him. Taking over as a preliminary candidate, former Minister of Justice and Public Security Bolsonaro has been targeted by both Pocket and the PT network, which helps partly explain the scale.

But this change is not just quantitative, it is clearly electoral. You can see the visual difference between the posts made before and after joining Podemos on November 10th. Now standardized and professionally photographed, the messages always address the former judge with a speech of hope that often eludes more comfortable topics such as fighting corruption.

“This movement began at the end of October, when the work of a professional team was noticed. Previously, he wrote tweets, but now there are design materials with colors to mark his campaign, as well as the likely slogan: “For a fair Brazil for all.” Another change is that he starts talking about different topics, for example, about economics, to show that he will not be a classmate. ”

Thanks to the investment, the pre-applicant’s engagement has also increased by 37% in the past month, mainly because he is using more networks. On average, three times more than before affiliation – there were 246 messages during the period analyzed by the consulting.

The graph (more details on this page) prepared by BITES points to November 30 as the graph with the most mentions of a preliminary candidate during this period. With the release of his book Against the Corruption System, he even surpassed Lulu on the web. Incidentally, when the book was published, the former judge decided to publish a photo advertising his work next to PT’s biography. The development of messages shows that it will not only be about proposals, but also about attacks on the current administration and the governments of the participating countries.

On Twitter, Moro also got involved in the engagement, but has gained 14,000 followers since November 10. “This is not much, just 0.42%, but it also marks a tipping point,” adds Ehler. The Facebook numbers still don’t matter as Moro only created his official account last month.
