STJD president, Otavio Noronha, is about to issue a decision on the warrant, in which the leader asks him to return. And this week should revolve around that measure.
In the current government, there are concerns about the favorable decision of the sports court in favor of Caboclo and, therefore, attempts to prevent his return. At the same time, the defenders of the president, who was removed from the KBF, believe that his removal has no legal basis under sports law.
Noronya is expected to make a decision on the case on Monday or this week at the latest. There is tremendous pressure on him. The STDJ president received Caboclo’s petition within a week at a meeting with his lawyers. After that, the case will be considered by the court in full, which will happen as soon as possible.
Beyond the legal debate, there is a parallel political articulation. National Football Secretary Ronaldo Lima dos Santos was in the America’s Cup final and was heard speaking out in favor of Caboclo’s return. The ousted CBF president spoke directly with Republican President Jair Bolsonaro about hosting the America’s Cup.
In this scenario, the CBF directors had information that Noronha might rule in Caboclo’s favor. Because of this, they are organizing a meeting of the state federations to vote on the removal of Caboclo. But it took five days to call the meeting. Caboclo also reacts and tries to support between the federations, although he is weakened.
There is widespread concern among the current directors of the confederation that if Caboklo returns to the presidency, sponsors will face pressure to cancel contracts and instability in the organization’s governance.
