Portuguese study shows third dose of Covid-19 vaccine is imminent

The study focused on several health professionals and concluded that immunity declines after three months.

The study was conducted in collaboration with medical professionals.

A new Portuguese study by the Clinical Pathology and Occupational Health Service of the University Hospital Center of Coimbra (CHUC) showed that taking a third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine is almost inevitable. We are talking about antibodies, the level of which decreases significantly after three months.

From the beginning of the vaccination process, the study was overseen by several health professionals to understand the immune response to the vaccine. Lucilia Araujo, one of the people coordinating the study, explained “News diary”That a re-vaccination may be required in the near future.

“We found that our population had an unusual reaction to the vaccine. 97.7% responded with very high antibody titers within 14 days of the second dose of the vaccine, but after three months they dropped sharply to about one-sixth on average. This descent continued after six months, ”he explained.

The study is still ongoing and will have a fourth phase to be completed in a year. The researcher believes that the third dose will be given to these specialists even earlier.

“I fully support the introduction of the third dose and believe that sooner or later it should be available, especially in the context of a hospital, ”he continued.

Currently, the task force and government have not commented on the introduction of the third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
