One of the topics that will be discussed tomorrow at the meeting between Jair Bolsonaro and Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will be the loan of Don Pedro I’s heart to celebrate the bicentenary of Brazil’s independence.

The government’s interest in having its heart set on the bicentennial was revealed in a Noblat blog in late April.

The Portuguese authorities have already decided to allow the transfer of the organ to Brazil, and the President of Portugal will make an official statement to Bolsonaro. But the meeting was canceled by the Brazilian. The reason was the meeting that took place today between Souza and PT Luis Inacio Lula da Silva.

Bolsonaro’s cancellation of the meeting should not affect the decision to send Don Pedro’s heart to celebrate on September 7th. Porto’s city council, through its president, Rui Moreira, authorized the organ’s dispatch after listening to the local legal medical institute about the state of the heart, whether or not it would support the trip.

At the end of last month, Moreira announced the decision directly to Marcelo Souza. The Noblat blog had access to an exchange of information with Itamaraty, realizing that the President of Portugal would like to make a statement directly to Bolsonaro at tomorrow’s meeting, which has now been cancelled.

Don Pedro’s heart has been kept in a glass vessel in the church of Nossa Senhora da Lapa in Porto since 1837.favorite photo). Every 10 years, the formaldehyde-based fluid is changed, which keeps it safe. For the Portuguese, this is the House of Pedro IV.

The transfer will be by Brazilian Air Force (FAB) aircraft if the decision to hand over the Emperor’s heart is upheld.
