Portugal: Portuguese minister meets with Italian startups

(ANSA) – LISBON, NOVEMBER 3 – Portugal’s Economy and Maritime Minister António Costa Silva, accompanied by Italian Ambassador to Lisbon Carlo Formosa, yesterday met with Italian startups participating in the web summit, one of the most popular global scale dedicated to technology and innovation. The summit brought together 2,300 startups, over 1,000 investors and over 71,000 individual participants from 160 countries in Lisbon.

During his stay at the event, the minister spent considerable time in the region hosting the Italian exhibitors, the only non-Portuguese platform that Costa Silva decided to visit to collect information directly from our entrepreneurs on the characteristics of their products and services.

The Italian collective space, coordinated by Ice Agency, brought together over 30 of the most dynamic and innovative startups operating in various sectors such as education, mobility, finance, health, sports, travel, technology and artificial intelligence.

Ambassador Formosa then spoke on behalf of Italy at the Esna-EU Alliance Forum, held at the large web summit complex, chaired by Minister António Costa Silva. Established during the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2021, ESNA is a reference body for European governments seeking to create an environment conducive to the creation and expansion of start-ups and the exchange of best practices.

The Italian startups attending the web summit were finally welcomed to the Ambassador’s residence for a reception organized to promote business and cooperation through interaction with Portuguese companies and institutions working in the field of innovation and with representatives of investment funds. .
