The Portuguese team will face France on Tuesday at 21:45 at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Paredes stadium.

The first day of the European Roller Hockey Championship began with Italy’s surprise defeat to France, while Portugal and Spain, other title contenders, played out their positions.

The first to enter the rink were the Italian and French teams, who played the main role in the amazing moment of the day. France started better, with good performance from Roberto Di Benedetto, who scored four of his team’s eight goals. Italy felt great difficulties in confronting the superiority of rivals and already at half-time lagged behind with a score of 4-5.

The French dominance continued throughout the second half, as did the inspiration of Roberto Di Benedetto. The other bombers of the Gallic team were Carlo Di Benedetto (3), a Porto player, and Erwan Debrover.

The Italians will meet with Spain on Tuesday at 15:30.

The Spaniards met this Monday with the national team of Andorra and, unsurprisingly, defeated without an answer 11: 0. Goals were scored by Ignacio Alabart (2), Pau Bargallo (2), Ferran Von (2), Sporting player, Sergi Panadero, Mark Grau, Toni Perez, Sporting and Sergi Aragones (2), Benfica.

In the end, Portugal also did not simplify the task and played against Germany with a score of 10: 0.

During the break, the team led by Renato Garrido had already won 3-0 with goals from Gonçalo Alves, Telmo Pinto and Jorge Silva.

In the second half, the trend continued, with three players scoring twice. Enrique Magalhaes, Diogo Rafael, João Rodrigues and Rafa also scored, cementing Portugal’s impressive victory.

Andorra plays against Germany in a match that starts at 18:30.
