At the age of 28, he signed a contract until 2025 with the current vice-champion of Portugal. Upon arrival, Wendell remembered other Brazilian defenders who had played for the club, such as Alex Sandro, who is now at Juventus, and Alex Telles, who currently plays for Manchester United.

– I hope I can continue this tradition of excellent left-backs who have played at Porto, such as Alex Sandro and Alex Telles. Now I can make my story here, ”Wendell said, highlighting the advice he received from Alex Telles, with whom he worked at Grêmio in 2013 and 2014.

“This is a friend with whom I played for a year at Gremio, and he gave me all the information, be it from the club, coach or teammates,” he added.

In Porto, Wendell will face three other Brazilians: midfielder Otavio, ex-Internacional, and striker Evanilson, ex-Fluminense, and Pepe, ex-Gremio, also signed this season.

In addition to the two Brazilians, the club has already signed three more additions for the season: Serb Marco Grujic and Portuguese Fabio Cardoso and Bruno Costa.

After two victories in the opening rounds, Porto return to the pitch on Sunday against Maritimo, away from home, in the Portuguese championship.
