Politician detains armed man who kidnapped and attacked his ex-wife

Mayor arrests man who attacked his former companion The mayor of Pitangueiras in the north of Parana, Samuel Teixeira (Avante), rescued a young woman who was attacked by a 27-year-old man in the city. The Military Police (PM) reported that the case was registered on Saturday (11). According to information provided by the mayor to G1 PR, he is a reserve sergeant of the Military Police (PM) and was called to help in the arrest of the suspect, since there was no police squad in the city at the time of the incident. The municipality has about 3,000 inhabitants and is served by the premier of Astorga, also in the north. The Prime Minister said that not all of the state’s 399 municipalities have police stations. However, everything is covered by the police. According to the mayor, the city has been left without a police squad for two years now. Therefore, private security guards serving the municipality warned the mayor about what had happened. Teixeira and security subsequently located the suspect, who was at home with the victim. According to the mayor, a reserve policeman entered the residence and detained a man who was armed. According to the Prime Minister, during a police inspection of the boy’s place of residence, drugs were found. The suspect has been taken to the Astorga police station, the case is being investigated by the Civil Police. According to police, the suspect must answer for bodily harm, domestic violence and crimes against the person. According to the law, police officers holding the position of mayor cannot combine both functions. Teixeira therefore left public office when he took over as manager of the Pitangueiras.
