It was not easy for Brazilian politics. Parties lost 500,000 members in 2021just a year before the elections for the President, Governor, Senate, State and Federal Government. If in December 2020 16 654 826 voters were associated with the legend, now there are 16 090 180.

V PSL, old subtitles Jair Bolsonaro, was the one who lost the most people. At the end of 2020, there were 464 thousand people in the party, now there are less than 75 thousand of them. For the first time since 2004, the party has fewer than 100,000 members.

“Some of those who leave PSL are connected with an unsuccessful attempt to create Aliança pelo Brasil, and another part with the president’s loss of popularity over these three years,” explained political analyst Marcelo Issa.

The IDBs, PSDB, PDT, PTB, PP and Democrats also lost members. The latter even announced last year an alliance with PSL to form União Brasil.
