PETA Asks Ubisoft To Replace Cockfighting In Far Cry 6

A few days after the release of Far Cry 6, PETA asked Ubisoft to edit the game, specifically the Cockfighting minigame.

PETA Latino released the following statement:

Transforming a bloody and gruesome sport like cockfighting into a Mortal Kombat-style video game is far from new, as modern society is strongly opposed to lethal animal fights. Roosters used in these fights have sharp spurs that can cut through skin and bones, causing fatal and excruciating injuries. PETA Latino Urgently Asks Ubisoft To Replace This Objectionable Minigame With One That Does Not Glorify Violence“, Alicia Aguayo, PETA Senior Manager.

To which Ubisoft responded with the following statement:

Far Cry 6 is a work of fiction set on the fictional Caribbean island of Yara. Many of the side events are part of Yara’s culture and history, which in turn have been inspired by the various cultures of Latin America.“.

IGN Portugal already had the opportunity to play and analyze Far Cry 6, which you can read about here considering “the supreme representative of Ubisoft’s open world formula. I am very pleased to explore the island of Yara and all its corners, where we have great freedom to face all of its challenges. Anton Castillo (Giancarlo Esposito) is a villain who will remain in the memory of all players, even if the rest of the narrative characters are not up to him. A must for fans of open world games“.
