O Porto announced a contract extension until 2027 with strikers Pepe and Evanilson. The Brazilian duo attracted interest from other clubs in Europe. The extension of the bail guarantees the Portuguese team a better position in possible negotiations in the future.

Pepe, 25, arrived at Porto in mid-2021 and is in his second season with the team. With seven goals and eight assists in 54 appearances for the Dragons, he has grown in the final stretch of Portugal’s 2021/22 league campaign.

Ex-Gremio even had Porto turn down €35m offer from Newcastle in the last transfer window.

– At the beginning it was different, but I am very glad that I can help in different positions. I am very grateful for the trust of the master and the technical team in my work, and I will continue to do my best in any position,” Pepe said after signing a new contract.

Evanilson, 23, arrived at Porto in mid-2020 and is in his third season with the team. He has 30 goals and seven assists in 82 games for the Dragons. The former Fluminense has become the target of speculation at Manchester United.

“I am very pleased to be able to sign this extension. Porto is a club that made me develop a lot. It is very gratifying for all that they have done for me and now I want to do my best to do my part on the field and continue to bring joy to our club and our fans, commented Evanilson.
