Pandora Papers: Tax Havens of Three Portuguese Politicians

International investigation published as Pandora Papers, places three Portuguese politicians on the list of beneficiaries of various companies in tax havens.

Nuno Morais Sarmento, former Minister for Presidential and Parliamentary Affairs, used company based in tax haven for the development of a diving school in Mozambique.

PSD’s current VP was beneficiary of Magalia International. The company was registered in 2006 in the British Virgin Islands, bought stakes in two other companies, Maningue, used for a diving school, and Tofomania, resulting in a hotel in Mozambique.

Morais Sarmento, number two of Rui Rio, did not respond to SIC but explained Expresso, a member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, what investments were made with friends.

Morais Sarmento’s financial footprint revealed as a result of a large-scale investigation by the International Consortium of Journalists.
