Onedrive prepares to crash on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1

A Microsoft announced the end of support for the desktop client of its tool One disc, on some operating systems. More precisely, Windows 7, 8 e 8.1 prepare to lose support.

From the beginning of 2022, updates will not be available until the app is completely out of sync with the cloud, which will happen on March 1, 2022.

To focus resources on new technologies and operating systems and provide users with the most up-to-date, secure experiences, there will be no more updates to the OneDrive desktop app on Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 effective January 1, 2022. OneDrive personal desktop apps running on these operating systems will no longer sync to the cloud as of March 1, 2022.

If users are using this business tool’s desktop app, support for that app will align with the Windows support lifecycle starting January 1, 2021. That is, those who pay for extended updates will receive support until January 10, 2023.
