One of Nick Cave’s sons has died. The tragedy occurred seven years after the musician lost another child

O musician and composer Nick Cave, 64, announced the death of his 31-year-old son, Jethro, on Monday. Less than seven years later, Nick Cave sees a repeat of the tragedy of losing a child.

“It is with great sadness that I confirm that my son Jethro has died” – Nick Cave wrote in a statement sent to the English press, in which he also called for respect for the privacy of the family.

The cause of death of Jethro, who was an actor, photographer and model, is not yet known.

Jethro’s path has not always been a happy one. His father only recognized him when he was seven years old, and from an early age he was involved in several episodes of violence, including against girlfriends.

Moreover, he was released two days before his death became known. He was arrested on charges of domestic violence against his mother. However, his sentence was reduced after the defense stated that he was suffering from schizophrenia.

Arthur’s death

In 2015, the musician lost his son Arthur when he was 15 years old. Arthur died after falling off a cliff in Brighton, England, and the teenager’s death was widely publicized because he had consumed LSD, a drug with hallucinogenic effects, before he died.

In 2021, Nick Cave wrote a memoir that focused on the last years of his life, a period especially painful for the musician due to the loss of his son.

The work titled “Faith, Hope and Slaughter” was the result of a conversation between the musician and Sean O’Hagan, a journalist for the Observer. It was published this year and contains over 40 hours of interviews on faith, art, music, freedom, pain and love.

Also through the platform where he communicates with fans, the vocalist answered hundreds of questions about the death of his son Arthur, even the most difficult ones.

The fan even asked her if she still felt her son’s presence. “You and Susie [a mulher] Do you still feel that Arthur is here and communicating with you in some way?” Nick Cave replied: not published website Red hand files.

“If we love, we suffer. This is the process: love and grief are forever linked. Grief is a terrible reminder of the depths of our love, and like it, it is non-negotiable.”.

The documentary “Once More With Feeling” was another moment in which Cave remembered his son and how much he missed him.

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds frontman have two more children: Earl, 21, and Luke, 30.
