Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4090 could double the performance of an RTX 3090

Unsurprisingly, Nvidia is the world’s largest graphics card maker, and their latest products only confirm this. The current GeForce RTX 30 line brings new graphics capabilities to computers, both desktop and laptop. Only the lack of inventory prevented more players from enjoying these machines.

But recent industry rumors indicate that the upcoming GeForce RTX 4090 GPU will have twice the performance of the current high-end RTX 3090, thanks to manufacturer TSMC.

RTX 4090 can be twice as fast as RTX 3090

Nvidia announced GeForce RTX 3070, RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 graphics cards in September 2020. The top model is the RTX 3090, which was released on September 24th for a suggested price of $ 1,499. The graphics are known as "BFGPU" - Big Ferocious GPU and have 24GB of GDDR6X memory.

However gossip Recent reports show TSMC is behind the development of Nvidia's next generation GPUs. The Taiwanese would then be responsible for the architecture chips of Ada Lovelace, Ampere's successors. As such, these chips must match the new GeForce RTX 40 lineup.

The current GeForce RTX 30 lineup is built using 8nm chips manufactured by Samsung. But the introduction of TSMC's 5nm manufacturing process shouldn't surprise the most observant. This is a more advanced lithography that may address some of the current gaps, especially with regard to consumption issues.

The information indicates that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 lineup will be announced in Q4 2022 or Q1 2023. And that date corresponds to the time when the manufacturer is expected to also release the RTX 30 SUPER line for laptops.

In addition, it is also indicated that the new Ada Lovelace architecture, using TSMC's 5nm lithography, will double the graphics performance of the GeForce RTX 4090 over the RTX 3090.
