Nintendo Switch gets a model with an OLED screen
Nintendo has unveiled a new version of the popular Nintendo Switch console, but this new take on the famous handheld console is far from rumor.
Rumor has it that there is already a new model for Nintendo’s latest handheld console, namely “Pro”, which seems to be released every month. However, it looks like that day has finally arrived, but I’m afraid things have not turned out the way we all wanted.
Nintendo announced a new version Nintendo Switch referred to as the “OLED model”. This console features a “7” bright OLED display, “wide adjustable stand”, a wired LAN port on the base, 64GB of internal storage and an enhanced audio system. The stand can also be further adjusted for an “optimal viewing angle”.
So far, so good. The problem is that this OLED switch is not, anywhere near, nowhere, a “Pro” version of a regular switch, contrary to how many rumors have been created. The OLED version supports all previous Joy-Con models, all previous games and can be used on TV, desk and handheld. In other words, you won’t be left out if you can’t grasp this version (or just want to ignore it).
If you dig deeper into the specs, it weighs 322 grams (422 if you count the included Joy-Cons) and uses the well-known NVIDIA Custom Tegra processor. The 7-inch OLED screen supports a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and displays up to 1080 pixels via HDMI in TV mode. So again, nothing here indicates that we are talking about the Switch Pro console. You can charge it via USB-C and even use the same microSD cards as always. The claimed battery life is 4.5 to 9 hours, charging time is three hours.
The Switch OLED model will launch on October 8, 2021 (which coincides with the release date of Metroid Dread) and will be available in two flavors: a white kit and a Joy-Con kit with classic shades of red and blue. … In the US, the console is known to be priced at $ 349 (about € 295 at current exchange rates), which is $ 50 more than the original Switch.
