Founded in December 2020, startup Bairro has just announced the completion of a € 1.2 million funding round with Russian private investors. The company guarantees its users the delivery of products in less than half an hour, using its own warehouses and courier service.

For now, the service is only available in Lisbon, but Bairro intends to reach Porto by the end of the year and from there expand to the rest of the country. The next steps are to place a bet on the Spanish market and neighboring European countries.

“The impressive dynamics of the project, the current size of the Portuguese food market, which is estimated at 24 billion euros, and low competition in the fast delivery segment in the region were the factors that led to the decision to invest in Bairro. “, – explains business angel Dmitry Shklyar in a statement.

With a warehouse located in former Nokia premises in the Marques de Pombal area, the startup is already supplying products to some important suppliers such as Unilever and Nestlé. In the next two years, he intends to expand the range of affordable food and consumer goods, as well as extend it to pharmacy products.

The company was founded by Artem Kokhan and Milena Dovzhenko, residents of Portugal and previously experienced in entrepreneurial activity. “Quick and convenient shopping from home is becoming more and more a reality for consumers, and we believed that there is room in the market for a service that would solve the problem of shopping in supermarkets at the last minute, efficiently and cost-effectively,” says Milena Dovzhenko.
