Navigator launches alternative packaging brand Monday – Industry

Navigator will officially launch its new brand of “packaging” products next Monday, November 1st, coinciding with the effective date of Portuguese legislation banning single-use plastics.

In presenting the results for the first nine months of this year, the group emphasizes that the new brand is “aiming to help accelerate the transition from plastic to paper, thereby once again making a commitment to sustainability and the environment.”

Based on the concept of “From Fossils to Forests”, the group emphasizes strengthening “its position in the fight against climate change by offering sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions.”

“With the launch of the gKraft line, the company is taking a step forward in providing alternative packaging that supports other organizations in achieving their environmental goals,” he says in the same statement, where he assures that the new packaging solutions “are tailored to the specific needs of the packaging market with particular emphasis to the industrial and retail segments, namely, food, catering, pharmaceuticals, clothing and cosmetics. “

The group announced at the presentation of the results of the first semester that it decided to move decisively towards the production of new packaging products (packaging), developing a new direction of business.

At the time, the company, led by Antonio Redondo, announced its decision to invest in safer and more hygienic packaging paper for the food industry without the risk of contamination from hazardous substances that may contain recycled fiber.

By the end of 2021, the company plans to sell a “significant” volume of packaging paper and expand its offer in 2022. The goal is to gradually increase production to around 200,000 tonnes in 2025/2026.

The investments envisaged in this first phase for the production of these products will range from 10 to 12 million euros per year in the coming years.

The group is currently reporting that the project is creating a new portfolio of patents, one of which has already been filed for publication.

As he explains, the new brand provides a quality seal that can be used by all manufacturers using gKraft paper as raw materials, as this seal is “a guarantee that the packaging uses paper and its associated benefits.”

As the packaging business has a very wide range of products, Navigator intends at this stage to provide solutions for the flexible packaging, sack paper and kraft liner segments for corrugated cardboard boxes and expand its offer in this area during 2022.
