Elon Musk returned to exercising “options” on Tesla shares.

The South African businessman sold 934,000 Tesla shares for $ 963.2 million this Thursday, according to documents from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) quoted by US television CNBC.

It was a “stock options” operation, and the Tesla CEO later bought 2.17 million shares of the car manufacturer.

On Twitter, Elon Musk joked about the situation, writing: “I’m thinking about quitting my job, maybe I’ll become an influencer.”

The transaction prompted Tesla to follow the negative trend seen in the premarket, with each share currently depreciating 1.17% to $ 992.31.

With such a drop, the company’s market capitalization would again fall below the $ 1 billion level. This is the second time in a week that the brand has left the Trillion Dollar Babies Club.

Tesla was not immune this Monday from the SEC’s opening of fire risks in homes and offices related to defects in the company’s solar panel systems, and stated, even for a short time, an “external stop” of the group of companies with the market capitalization of more than a billion dollars.

Twitter decides, it’s decided

Musk has lost nearly $ 12 billion in shares since last month, when Musk’s Twitter followers voted to have the businessman sell 10% of Tesla’s capital.

Earlier this month, the Tesla CEO already sold an additional $ 973 million (€ 867.82 million at current exchange rates) of the automaker’s shares.

In the last week of November, the CEO of the auto giant sold about 8.2 million shares of Tesla for about $ 8.8 billion after his Twitter followers voted to sell 10% of the shares of the South African businessman in the capital Tesla.

In early November, Musk asked his Twitter followers if he should sell 10% of his stake. The answer was yes (about 58% of the 3.5 million votes were in favor of the sale), and then the automaker’s CEO sold the shares on Monday, November 8th. The listed company lost almost 5% that day.
