According to prosecutors, the complaint received contained a recording of a meeting between Mayor Fabrizio, a lawyer, the Deputy Minister of Social Communications and government officials on 15 July. According to the complaint, all servers were required. Also according to the MPE, the servers’ cell phones would be confiscated upon entering the meeting.
According to the complaint, at the meeting it was said that from August 7, when the political propaganda of the by-elections of Silva Jardim begins, the servers will have to post Fabrizio’s campaign materials on their social networks.
The Deputy Secretary for Public Relations will be responsible for “filtering” employee publications to avoid violations of electoral laws.
The prosecutor claims that Fabrizio used the public machine for political advancement. By-elections will take place on 12 September.
In a statement, Mayor Fabrizio de Napigno denied any irregularities during the meeting, which he said would be a meeting with a political group outside office hours and without any coercion by the city authorities. Fabrizio also said that he was involved in the investigation and that the facts would be properly clarified.
