Microsoft has confirmed that production of all Xbox One console models has ended at the end of 2020. Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, but the Xbox One S will continue to be manufactured and sold worldwide.

The news comes at a time when, according to Bloomberg, Sony aims to produce a million PlayStation 4s this year to make up for the lack of a PlayStation 5 on store shelves.
Microsoft doesn’t release sales figures for Xbox consoles, but analyst Daniel Ahmad of Niko Partners estimates that the company sold about 56 million Xbox Ones during the previous generation. By comparison, Sony said it had sold over 116 million PlayStation 4 consoles as of September 30, 2021.
Although Xbox One consoles are no longer in production, games for this generation continue to be developed as the market moves to next generation consoles. Microsoft will continue to provide technical and software support for Xbox One for several more years14.
