“We found two new victims last night. Unfortunately, one of those victims was the seven-year-old daughter of a Miami firefighter, ”Miami-Dade County spokeswoman Danielle Levin Kawa told a press conference.

“Every night [desde o colapso] It was immensely difficult for everyone, but last night was especially difficult for the rescue teams, ”he added, citing AFP.

On Thursday, US President Joe Biden visited the site and spent several hours with rescuers and the families of the victims.

Danielle Levin Kava noted that the number of missing persons also dropped from 140 to 128 after a total of 188 residents of the house have already been identified.

An increasingly difficult search for survivors was interrupted for hours on Thursday after authorities feared the remaining parts of the building would collapse, but only resumed at the end of the day.

Much of the 12-story Champlain Towers South, a dozen miles from Miami Beach, collapsed on the morning of June 24.

Hurricane Elsa, which is currently over the island of Barbados and could interfere with rescue operations, is due to approach Florida from Monday to Tuesday, the head of the US meteorological service, Robert Molleda, said at the same press conference.
