Americans commemorate Social Remembrance Day on Monday because of the coronavirus pandemic.

With most of the countries locked up, brothers of the deceased military veterans who were grieving – including some who died of the virus themselves – had to respect their relatives without the support of traditional parades or memorial tombs.

On a visit to Fort McHenry in Maryland, President Trump likened the outbreak of war, saying the “soaring spirit” that was driving American resistance to the British invasion in 1814 would “defeat the virus.”

Meanwhile, former Vice President Joe Biden left home for the first time in months – in a black mask – to put a wreath on a memorial near his home in Delaware.
