Sao Paulo – Daily Debate, Course on Fascism and Authoritarianism, Book Fair with 20% to 50% Discounts. The sixth Political Book Salon, online and free of charge, starts this Friday (24) and runs until October 3. With the participation of 56 publishers, the Salon was organized by Alameda, Anita Garibaldi, Autonomia Literária and Boitempo… The meetings will be attended by intellectuals, writers, journalists and politicians from all over the world. “Brazil and Overcoming Many Crises” is the topic of the debate opening Friday at 6 pm with Sabrina Fernandez, Manuela D’Avila and Marilena Chauy. Then, at 20:00, Slavoj ižek and Vladimir Safatle talk about the “Pandemic and the revival of communism.”

Launched in 2015, Boitempo CEO Ivana Jinkings said, The Political Book Salon emerged as a result of the urgency expand or political debate and a place for liberal arts publishers in the country. “Book fairs tend to favor fiction. They are always very popular with foreign guests. It was a meeting of small and few publishers in early 2015. At the beginning we were about 10 years old. We held a small fair with a discussion program. Since then it has been growing. ”

The debate at Salão do Livro Politico will touch on various areas of the humanities and current affairs such as the military in politics, the climate crisis, the covid-19 pandemic, Latin America, the far right, precarious work, neoliberalism, culture war, socialism, and more.
