Former Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva leads the first round of the 2022 presidential election with 46% of the vote, compared to President Jair Bolsonaro (25%), Datafolha said today.

As a result, Lula da Silva leads Bolsonaro by 21% in terms of electoral intentions in the presidential elections, which will be contested in the country in 2022.

The same poll also included former Ceará Governor Ciro Gomes (8%), Sao Paulo Governor João Doria (5%) and former Health Minister Luis Enrique Mandetta (4%).

During the survey on July 7 and 8, 2,074 people were interviewed in 146 cities in Brazil. People over 16 years old were interviewed. The margin of error is plus or minus two points within a 95% confidence level.

According to DataFolha, Lula da Silva will also win Bolsonaro in the second round of the presidential election, with 58% of the electorate going to be preferred, while Bolsonaro will have 31% of the vote.

Respondents also answered a question to measure the rejection rate of preliminary candidates.

So far, when asked which of the possible candidates would not have voted at all in the first round of the 2022 presidential election, but could have chosen more than one option, the responses showed that Bolsonaro leads with 59% of the deviation, followed by Lula da Silva (37 ). %), Doria (37%), Ciro Gomes (31%), Luis Enrique Mandetta (23%) and Eduardo Leite (3%).

The current President of Brazil has lost popularity due to the fight against the covid-19 pandemic, as a result of which more than 530,000 people have died in the country and at least 19 million have become infected.

Recently, Bolsonaro has been particularly hit by allegations of corruption related to the procurement of covid-19 vaccines, which were negotiated by the Brazilian Ministry of Health.

In addition, the head of state is periodically controversial, attacking Brazil’s decades-old e-voting system almost every day for which he was elected president.

Bolsonaro reiterated today that there will be fraud in the 2022 presidential election if the Federal Electoral Court (TSE) does not accept the voting system, which he believes is verifiable.

The Brazilian leader even questioned the conduct of the elections.

Speaking with supporters, he said today that he is “not afraid of elections” and that he “gives a belt to whoever wins with a verifiable and reliable vote.”

“In this way [atual], we risk not holding elections next year, ”he added.
