According to Record Sport, Messi agreed on the financial terms of a five-year contract totaling € 700 million (£ 623 million).

This incredible deal will make the Argentine captain the highest paid player in the history of the sport.

That’s £ 14,200 an hour, £ 341,000 a day, £ 2.4 million a week and a whopping £ 10.4 million a month.

Messi is set to spend three seasons at Etihad before joining the Major League Soccer City Football Group (CFG) New York City FC for two years.

It is also reported that Messi may be offered a stake in CFG as part of his stake.

The six-time Golden Ball winner was at war with Barcelona since he applied for a transfer to leave for free.

Barcelona’s new boss, Ronald Koeman, has decided that if Messi does not want to stay with the Spanish giants, it would be better to get him out as soon as possible.

Lionel Messi shocked the football world by expressing his desire to leave Barcelona

Barça presidential candidate Victor Font is pushing for incumbent President Josep Maria Bartomeu to keep his promise to allow the Argentine superstar to “leave when he wants to.”

Messi’s father and spokesman, Jorge Messi, flew yesterday in a private jet from his home in Rosario, Argentina, to Spain to hold talks with Barcelona’s leaders today.

And Font said, “A couple of months ago, the President said the players deserve the right to leave and retire whenever they want.

“Now, because of these exceptional circumstances, he must fulfill this obligation.”

When asked if Messi was betrayed by the club, Font added: “There is an inconsistency, probably due to poor management by the current council trying to hide behind these wrongdoings.

“This is why it is very important for the history of the club that we do the right thing.”

Barcelona claims 33-year-old Messi is coming STRIKE after not show up for Covid test and pre-season preparation

But the superstar no longer considers himself part of Koeman’s team after a bitter dispute over his contract.

His legal team claims he is now a free agent after faxing a transfer request and can leave without paying a huge € 700 million ransom clause, while Barca and LaLiga insist that the terms of the contract are still plans are accepted.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Font added: “I’m sure what Messi decided was not a last minute decision, it would be something well thought out.

“I really hope that this decision can be changed, but it is unlikely, in which case the focus should be on the transition that Messi deserves.

“We have to ensure that the legal battle between the club and Messi ends. We sit down and talk. Let’s take care not to get into an even worse situation. “

PSG contacted Lionel Messi’s father about the transfer, but said they had already decided to join Man City
