Leonard with an estimated brightness of 2.5 was discovered in 2021 by astronomer Gregory J. Leonard and will be located at the point closest to Earth on January 3, 2022, according to the American aerospace agency NASA. After the summit, Leonard will slowly move away, and after 80,000 years he will be visible in the sky above the Earth.

Comet Leonard and its tail, which can be up to 15 million kilometers long, are still visible in the Brazilian sky. For amateur observers, positioning apps can be used to pinpoint the exact coordinates of a phenomenon in the sky and the best time to observe.
