Left bets on federation, targeting the core that will rule with Lula – Folha Political

The PSB and PT benches are expected to meet separately next week to discuss a common theme: federation. The problem that has arisen, say the parliamentarians who participated in the discussion as a “lifeline” for the PCdoB, is gaining traction on the sidelines, based on the following argument: will rule with former President Lula if he is elected President of the Republic in 2022.

It is the strategic political component that drives the discussion. Such reasoning developed behind the scenes through a federation of PT, PCdoB, PSB, and PSOL. In other words, the idea is that these acronyms form the basis of the campaign, which will serve as a reference point for the government’s support base.

In parallel with this political variable, there is one more – the electoral one. The latter is due to the prevailing opinion in these parties today that, on the proportional map analyzed in each specific case, it seems that the best condition for maintaining or expanding benches in the course of electoral disputes is a federation.

This growing sympathy for the federation’s supporters comes from the growing closeness of the alliance of the four parties around Lula. And it was this line of reasoning that sparked the ongoing sewing around the federation, uniting the four acronyms.

Pro-federation parliamentarians with PT, PCdoB, PSOL and PSB privately admit that one of the criticisms of the Lula administration was that it left this core and shifted political support for its government to the center. “This deepened during the reign of Dilma.
