Fortaleza councilor Larisa Gaspar (PT) rejected President Jair Bolsonaro’s (non-partisan) veto on distributing tampons to low-income women and said he vetoed the issue because of “his misogyny” and “hatred of women.” The statement was made on Tuesday, November 12, in an interview with the Political Game program.
Gaspard called the president’s decision a disregard for women’s lives. “The President vetoed because of his misogyny and hatred of women. He vetoed because our life doesn’t matter to him, it doesn’t matter if we end up in hospitals. The veto is absurd and doesn’t justify it,” he said …

In justification of the veto, Bolsonaro said that when any project results in costs, the congressman “knows that he must indicate the source of funding.”
